Dover Board Weighs Aquarion PFAS Options as Level 2 Drought Remains in Effect

DOVER — Two overlapping water concerns are holding residents' attention this week: a Level 2 Significant Drought designation that restricts when and how homeowners may water outdoors, and continuing discussions between Aquarion Water Company and town leadership about PFAS contamination and discolored water affecting Aquarion customers.

The Level 2 Significant Drought declaration remains in effect for Dover, limiting nonessential outdoor water use to hand-held hoses or watering cans — and only during the window after 5 p.m. and before 9 a.m. Sprinkler and irrigation system use is not permitted under the current designation.

On the water quality front, Aquarion Water Company joined the Board of Selectmen for a public information session to explore options for addressing discolored water and the presence of PFAS compounds in the system serving Aquarion customers in town. No specific remediation decision has been publicly announced. Both matters remain listed as active items on the town's homepage.
