Foxborough School Committee Backs $1 Million Taylor School Feasibility Study Warrant

Foxborough School Committee unanimously approved a $1 million town meeting warrant article for the Taylor Elementary School feasibility study and voted to again opt out of school choice. The committee, with Chair Sarah LaDani and members Patrick McGuire, Michelle Thaxton, and Allison Cully voting 4-0 on all items, also approved two budget transfers totaling $123,501.78 — $72,576.78 to cover a trash and recycling contract that was not finalized before the fiscal year 2026 budget was adopted, and $50,925 for transportation of five newly enrolled foster care students. Kristine Burrows framed the annual school choice rejection in fiscal terms, noting Foxborough's per-pupil expenditure is "almost double" the state reimbursement rate. Foxborough Police Chief Mike Grace informally requested the board consider making June 16 a half day due to anticipated traffic disruptions from a World Cup match at Gillette Stadium, with trains expected from 3 p.m. onward; no vote was taken but the item will appear on a future agenda.
