WEYMOUTH — June 25, 2026 — Weymouth schools lock in a $16.6 million, five-year bus contract and field a sustained alarm over Hamilton Elementary safety. The School Committee voted unanimously June 25 to accept the home-to-school transportation agreement with First Student after a rebidding process that began in April and ended with the company as the sole bidder — rival firm NRT having withdrawn, citing concerns about the implementation timeline. The contract comes in roughly $500,000 below First Student's initial offer and required a $2.9 million performance bond. Five speakers during public comment, including a Hamilton teacher who documented more than 50 incident reports this year, described escalating physical aggression at Hamilton Elementary; Hamilton parent and behavior analyst Katie Cullen told the committee her third-grader had been "hit with metal water bottles, flipped out of her chair and curb stomped."
