Plainville Boards Appoint Stoddard and Lownd to Interim School Committee Seats

PLAINVILLE — May 14, 2026 — Plainville fills two interim School Committee seats after joint board interviews. The Select Board and School Committee convened jointly on May 14 to interview four candidates for two immediate vacancies on the School Committee, then voted to appoint Catherine Stoddard, a district instructional coach and Plainville parent, and Victoria Lownd, a parent of both a special education student and a high-performing student. Kevin Cormier, a first-year school council member and Plainville parent, and Alex Kenny, who had run for the King Philip Regional School Committee in the most recent election, were also interviewed but did not receive appointments at this meeting. A board member noted at the outset that a third vacancy may open in the coming months, depending on action by the state legislature, which could trigger another round of joint appointments.
