Planning Board Backs Single-Family Neponset Rezoning

Foxborough Planning Board leans toward single-family-only rezoning for Neponset overlay district. Staff recommended advancing only a 12,000-square-foot-lot, single-family version of the warrant article rather than a competing two-family option, to avoid confusion ahead of a possible state law allowing two-family homes by right; the board continued the item to October 8. Members also voted unanimously to cut the Pioneer Estates subdivision bond by $257,172, to $460,164, after Town Engineer Kevin Davis signed off on remaining work.
Foxborough Youth Soccer's Matt Monahan told the board the group now fields "over 500 kids... closer to 600" and asked for temporary lights at Friends Field to fight fading fall daylight; the hearing was continued to October 22 pending a police review of roadside parking. The board separately approved, unanimously, a 4,200-square-foot addition to the church at 106 Central Street, preserving all 115 existing parking spaces.
