Wellesley Planning Board votes 5-0 to sponsor a $275,000 comprehensive plan funding article for Special Town Meeting. Planning Director Rob Wachilla said the request, framed as $350,000 offset by $75,000 in returned capital funds, follows a failed bid at Annual Town Meeting over cost-transparency concerns. Member James Roberti pressed on the borrowing mechanism, warning "some of this gets political," while Vice Chair Thomas Taylor said the town remains "good stewards" given the returned funds.

The board separately voted 4-0 and 5-0 to continue an inclusionary zoning special permit at 26 Washington Street and a large house drainage redesign at 42 Oak Street, both to August 31, pending a funding resolution and Department of Public Works sign-off, respectively. Engineer Chi Man told the board the redesigned drainage plan swaps commercial-grade oil-grit separators, which he said cost "more than $10,000 apiece," for a rain garden system. Wachilla also confirmed planner Alana Rivera has departed for a preservation-planner post in Brookline, and that a related staff-salary transfer will instead ride on a separate Select Board omnibus warrant article.
