Quincy Sets July 2 Patriotic Celebration to Open Independence Day Weekend
DATELINE — QUINCY
Mayor Thomas P. Koch and the city are rolling out a full July 4th weekend slate, anchored by a patriotic celebration on July 2, while residents should note a handful of municipal service interruptions in the days ahead.

Mayor Koch has invited residents and visitors to a Patriotic Celebration on Wednesday, July 2, as the city kicks off the Independence Day weekend. The event is part of Quincy's broader America 250 programming, which has included a Summer Maritime Festival and Historic Tall Ship visit announced earlier this spring.
Residents with trash and recycling pickups this week can breathe easy: the Department of Public Works has confirmed there is no delay in waste and recycling collection for the week of June 29. However, the DPW Rear Yard will be closed on July 3 and July 4. Additionally, the City Hall elevator is temporarily out of service; residents needing accessible entry should plan accordingly before visiting 1305 Hancock St.
