MILLIS — The School Building Committee voted unanimously by roll call to adopt the consultant's radon plan for the Millis school project. The plan calls for four passive riser vents in the new area and 10 in the existing building, up from three and four. Power wiring and fans were deferred.
A member cited a $175,000 radon retrofit at Clyde Brown, and Al Valtor said "radon is a pretty nasty thing." The committee was told value engineering and design changes total about $409,000 in savings, and that the Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Board of Health have approved the project. It approved invoices for Vertex ($35,000), TAPE ($358,947.22), Fontaine ($30,858.00), BETA ($5,835.47) and a solar termination fee ($5,736.56).
