BROOKLINE — The Brookline Select Board approved a memorandum of agreement with developer Nordblom Company for a 26 Pleasant Street redevelopment, backed up to $1 million a year in Community Preservation Act funding for affordable housing, and swore in a new deputy superintendent. Vice Chair Michael Rubenstein, who led the Nordblom negotiations, secured a raised crosswalk, sidewalk upgrades and a $50,000 public-realm payment, though members Amanda Zimmerman and Anthony Buono questioned whether the deal captures enough town revenue, with an independent analysis from consultant RKG still pending. The board also awarded a $1,979,096 contract to dredge Willow Pond and Leverett Pond, appointed Gregory Wheeler to the Transportation Board, and promoted 28-year veteran Lieutenant Derek Hayes to deputy superintendent.
"My concern is the net revenue to the town post construction," Buono said. Votes on a Vision Zero traffic-enforcement resolution, a Massachusetts flag and seal resolution, and FY27 budget amendments were all postponed to a future meeting.
