Select Board Finalizes 12-Article Town Meeting Warrant
Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Millis Select Board closes warrant for Nov. 9 town meeting, anchored by a $1.6 million sewer deal. The board voted unanimously to finalize 12 articles, including a $1,575,000 purchase of 150,000 gallons-per-day of sewer capacity from Franklin and $373,000 in capital spending for fire air packs, a DPW dump truck and a transfer-station compactor. Town Administrator Mike Kaczynski's appointment of Victoria Schindler as human resources director was ratified unanimously, with colleagues calling her "probably one of the hardest working people" they know.
The board continued a contentious water-rate hearing to October 19 after Chair Craig Schultz asked whether cutting a flat $79.98 quarterly fee was worth a $60,000 annual hike for the town's largest water user to save the average homeowner $33. The Millis Housing Authority restarted its pitch for roughly 45 new senior and disabled housing units, citing 5,089 waitlist applicants for its 73 existing elderly units.
