Select Board OKs Grady reappointment, Halloween Stroll
Select Board · Meeting of September 29, 2026
COHASSET — Sewer Commission leaders accuse Cohasset of signing a Scituate harbor pact without their input. Chairman Bill McGowan and Vice Chairman Paul Kearse told the Select Board the 2025 Inter-Municipal Agreement and its shellfish management plan were executed without Sewer Commission review, despite governing wastewater standards the commission oversees. Town counsel's statement, read by Chair David Farrag, said the agreements expose the town to no new liability and that state law caps municipal liability at $100,000.
Researcher Brian Host countered, "A camp is absolutely part and parcel to the foundation of our liability exposure," citing an outdated 2021 agreement template and fecal coliform readings of up to 80, more than double the legal limit of 32, near proposed oyster-farm sites. The board separately voted 5-0 to reappoint Paul L. Grady Jr. to the Sidewalks, Safety, and Connectivity Committee and approved a revised 1-3 p.m. window for the October 25 Halloween Stroll.
