Walpole School Committee Approves Jump Rope Team Travel, Hears World Language Update

WALPOLE — February 25, 2026 — Walpole School Committee recognized its three-time consecutive Division I state field hockey champion and heard a broad foreign language program update at its February 25 meeting. The committee unanimously honored Coach Quinn's field hockey program — described as the winningest Division I field hockey program in Massachusetts history after five straight state finals appearances — and celebrated eighth-grader Isabella Butaro as the town's Project 351 ambassador, who is organizing a cradles-to-crayons clothing drive with donation bins at the middle school starting around March 31. In a 6-0 vote, members approved out-of-state travel for the school's jump rope team to Kittery, Maine on March 28 and Keene, New Hampshire on June 6. World language department chair Laura Kaye brought three students to the podium — Ethan Hunt and Charlotte O'Malley reporting on a first-ever Cavilam immersion trip to Vichy, France, and Alex Pedrignani Boyd on the eighth-grade Quebec trip — before presenting classroom highlights including an NCTA grant won by teacher Liza Farkason. Superintendent Bridget Scordato flagged that a FIFA World Cup pre-tournament match at Gillette Stadium falls on June 16, a full school day, and said Town Administrator Jim Johnson and Police Chief Rich Kelleher have committed to helping manage bus routing along Route 1.
