Weymouth School Committee Approves Superintendent Evaluation on 4-1 Vote

Weymouth School Committee splits 4-1 on superintendent's evaluation, tables meeting-time debate. The committee voted to accept Superintendent Curtin's 2025-26 summative evaluation, rating her "proficient" overall after individual ratings split evenly between needs improvement, proficient and exemplary; member Kelly cast the dissenting vote over evaluation comments about newer members that she said should have been struck under fresh state training guidance. Evaluators rated Curtin exemplary in family and community engagement and professional culture, and proficient in instructional leadership and management and operations.
Members also approved roughly $3.6 million across five warrants, rejected then tabled, 5-1, an overnight band trip to Orlando's Festival Disney pending a funding source, and advanced a policy change barring seclusion as a behavioral intervention to a third reading. After residents split over returning meetings to Weymouth High School and choosing a 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. start time, the committee tabled that vote to September 10.
