Westwood School Committee Names Sheehan Principal, Approves Staff Salary Increases

WESTWOOD — April 14, 2026 — Westwood School Committee introduces new Sheehan principal and confirms Thurston Middle School grant filing. At its April 14 meeting, the committee introduced Stacey Mahoney — currently principal at Fannie E. Proctor Elementary School in Northborough — as the incoming principal of Sheehan School, with an official start date of July 1. Superintendent confirmed the district will submit its Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for Thurston Middle School by April 17, an application that could bring tens of millions of dollars in state funding toward renovating or replacing the building; the district expects to hear back from the MSBA in December 2026. The committee also voted unanimously to approve salary increases for literacy paraprofessionals, occupational and physical therapists, technology support specialists, extended day and in-school staff, and Prodigy Music instructors. Chair Maia Plotkin noted two contested School Committee seats are on the April 28 town election ballot.
