Weymouth Secures $11.5 Million for SWNAS Water, Sewer Upgrades
The Town of Weymouth has negotiated an $11.5 million upfront payment from the master developer of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station to fund continued water and sewer infrastructure work ahead of the site's redevelopment, town officials announced this week, as residents also brace for a stretch of hot weather and approaching tax deadlines.

Weymouth has secured $11,551,500 from the Master Developer of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station property, an upfront payment negotiated by the town to fund continued water and sewer infrastructure upgrades needed ahead of the redevelopment project, according to the town's News & Announcements page.
Mayor Molisse issued a message urging residents to prepare for the upcoming heat, asking them to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity and check on elderly neighbors. Separately, the town clarified that Weymouth's drinking water remains safe and that no boil-water order is in effect locally, after some residents received text alerts referencing a boil-water order issued for a neighboring community.
The town also flagged a wildlife alert after a known bobcat den was identified near Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth. Officials noted bobcat attacks on humans are extremely rare, though the animals may view cats, small dogs and other small domestic animals as potential prey.
On the fiscal side, Fiscal Year 2027 first-quarter tax payments are due Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. Preliminary tax bills were mailed June 29.
