Milton Warrant Committee Authorizes Year-End Transfer Designee, Hears Lesley University Acquisition Update
MILTON — June 15, 2026 — Milton Warrant Committee closes fiscal year, votes to streamline year-end fund transfers. The committee voted unanimously on June 15 to designate its chair as sole signatory to approve year-end reserve fund transfers, appropriations transfers, and any revolving fund overspending through the July 15 statutory deadline, consistent with past practice. Town Administrator Nick Milano told the committee that a state supplemental allocation of approximately $250,000 will help offset Milton's snow and ice budget overrun for fiscal year 2026, with a separate $20 million statewide pool potentially providing additional relief. Milano briefed the committee on the possible acquisition of the Lesley University campus at 333 Adams Street — a 4.7-acre, 50,000-square-foot site the School Committee has identified for district administration, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten — with a School Building Committee cost estimate for renovation expected by end of July and a potential purchase article targeted for the October 19 fall town meeting. Members also flagged a gap in written cost analysis for major capital expenditures, citing a $700,000 truck purchase that one member said lacked any document showing payback period or net present value.
