Planning Board · Meeting of October 22, 2026

PLAINVILLE — The Planning Board took public comment on a proposed mulch operation next to an existing gravel pit. Deborah Bell, who identified herself as Director of the Board of Health, praised the board's review of the site plan, groundwater protection and noise. Jeff Johnson, speaking as a water commissioner, asked the board to confirm that the stormwater filter's maintenance plan is followed.

A former Brookside Village president cited air quality and residents' health, putting the distance to the gravel pit at about 421 yards. A speaker for the applicant side said the operation would not be "soundproof" but would be mitigated, and that sound study peer review comments had come back.
