Wellesley Wetlands Committee Issues Multiple Permits, Continues Cheney Drive NOI to July 30

WELLESLEY — July 9, 2026 — Wellesley Wetlands Protection Committee voted on nine formal actions July 9, closing hearings and approving permits across a dozen active cases while continuing the Cheney Drive repaving project and the 45 White Oak Road certificate of compliance to its July 30 meeting. Chair Eleanor McLane noted that Member Eben Scanlon attended his final session after declining reappointment at the expiration of his June 30 term, leaving two associate member seats and one full member position to be filled. The most extended deliberation involved 9 Standish Road, where the committee voted four to zero for a negative determination on an abutter's request for determination of applicability after Attorney Jonathan Silverstein argued that a stormwater infiltration pipe added to the approved plan runs entirely within the previously approved excavation area and creates no new disturbance. The committee approved a certificate of compliance for 30 Redwing Road conditioned on four to six native shrubs to offset an approximately 200-square-foot patio installed without wetlands approval during the original 2014-2015 construction. The 45 White Oak Road COC was continued after site-visit members flagged possible fill over an oak tree's root crown, residual erosion-control fabric on a slope, and an underperforming rain garden.
