Foxborough Approves Gillette Stadium License With New Cost Structure, Two-Month Billing Pause

FOXBOROUGH — April 17, 2026 — Foxborough approves new Gillette Stadium license requiring Kraft Sports and Entertainment to cover more town costs. The Select Board on April 17 voted unanimously to issue the 2026 Annual Entertainment License for Kraft Sports and Entertainment Group under a revised format that formally assigns to the company a share of town police, fire, and departmental expenses tied to stadium events — a change the board said had been in development since at least fall 2025. Attorney Gary Ronan and Gillette Stadium representative Jess Enos asked the board to revert to the prior license and allow two to three months of negotiation first, arguing they had received the new draft only days before last week's initial hearing. The board declined to revert but offered a two-month moratorium on billing the new costs, along with an 18 percent reduction from the cost figures in the draft Kraft had previously reviewed. "Shame on us," said the board member identified as Bill, acknowledging the town had long absorbed expenses it should have been recovering. The board also voted unanimously to award the disposition of town-owned property at 75 Central Street through a completed RFP process after town counsel found no merit in a complaint filed against the procurement.
