Milton schools restore three cut positions and increase circuit breaker spending by $400,000. The School Committee finance subcommittee briefed Warrant Committee representatives on an updated FY27 budget plan aimed at closing a roughly $1 million level-service gap, restoring a reduction to the DEIB director role, a middle school special education teacher, and two board certified behavior analyst positions that had appeared on an earlier cut list. Assistant Superintendent Nathan said the reversals were driven by "community input and probably some educator input as well." The revised plan draws $3 million total from the district's special education circuit breaker reserve — up from a previously planned $2.6 million — and adds a new bus, a full-time human resources director, and a full-time assistant superintendent of teaching and learning.

A $50,000 contracted services safety net was also built in to cover evaluation needs created by eliminated coordinator positions. No formal vote has been taken; a public budget hearing is set for March 11 and a Warrant Committee presentation is tentatively scheduled for March 16.
