Norfolk Planning Board Incumbent Seeks Re-Election, Cites Master Plan and Solar Forum

NORFOLK — April 19, 2026 — Norfolk Planning Board incumbent Melissa Mayo made her case for a second three-year term in an April 19 NCTV candidate interview, highlighting master plan implementation, zoning reform, and a solar project community forum as her top priorities. Mayo, who has served nearly four years on the board including a stint as an associate member, is running alongside one other candidate for two open seats. She described a planned May 7 community forum with the developer behind a contested solar project as her most urgent near-term goal, saying residents had been unable to get answers at a succession of Planning Board, Zoning Board, and Select Board meetings. On longer-term priorities, she pointed to the board's effort to adjust B1 downtown zoning to stimulate development on the former Stop & Shop lot, ongoing analysis of what bylaw changes might steer developers away from Chapter 40B projects, and follow-through on the former Southwood Hospital rezoning, which the town expects will eventually generate roughly $1 million annually in tax revenue. Early voting opens April 24 at Town Hall; Election Day is May 5 at the Freeman-Kennedy School.
